Water

Coldness surrounds me
Feeding warmth.
Treads its way slowly
Amplifying fastness.
Gives us life
Destroying bodies

Drapes on me like a second skin
Yet refuses to stay on.
Hides my fears
Yet exposing my secrets.
Rids my inhibitants
Yet instilling new distress

Ironic how
Something precious
Can betray you.

Something personal
Can be unfamiliar.

Something close
Can be far away.

Yet
Lovely at the same time.
Seductive as a siren’s song
Lilting like the cheerful tune.

Love

What is love?

The intense emotion,

Or the simmering feeling

That barely glazed the skin?

Or is it the warmth that filled the heart

When you see the other one

That fills your dreams

Day and night?

Or is it simply an annoying obsession
That one exists better without?
