Lost friendship
I look at your face,
Happiness flitted through those eyes,
I look at your arms,
That hold me closely.
Years have come and gone,
You have lost all immaturity,
Grew up,
And gained gracefulness.
I couldn't remember the last time
I have found and lost,
Those silent tears that fell
Softly undetected.
But we were no longer young,
Basking in that quiet innocence.
No longer the people that we used to be,
We could never return to those days.
Time passed,
Like a rushing river,
We've faced our own demons,
And overcame them.
You asked me,
Why am I sad,
When I should happy
To see you again.
I really want to tell you,
How much I want to rejoice,
But I refuse to cry,
Because everything is a lie.
The friendship that we once had,
Was lost in time and space,
I couldn't find it back again,
The easy camaraderie we once shared.
I suppose this is goodbye,
You were once important in my past.
I suppose you could say I gave up on you,
You are no longer in my future.
